Men’s Shed launches today

The Clock has officially launched its Men’s Shed project at their Clock Works Community Re-Use Store and Workshop today.

‘Men’s Sheds’ are a concept that originated in Australia but are now popping up all over the UK and worldwide. They are places where groups of men come together to work on practical projects – connecting, conversing and creating.

The Clock has marked the occasion with membership of the UK Men’s Shed Association ( which boasts a network of over 400 similar projects with 10,000+ participants (known as ‘Shedders’) benefiting from regular social interactions, new and improved skills and active participation in activities they enjoy.

This project will take place at the newly created Community Workshop at the rear of the Store on Tuesdays 6pm-7:30pm. For more information or to register interest you can contact Kev (project lead, pictured here) by email or by calling 07598 187846. Sessions are free.

This project has been developed and funded through a partnership with The Clock, Thirsk Community Care, Thirsk Community Library and North Yorkshire County Council’s Stronger Communities Team.
